Year 4 - Day 6 - Vero Beach to Juno FL
Departed Vero Beach around the same time as other location, around 8:15 a.m. Weather warm, in high 70 degrees already.
Our first break stop ironically was across the road from the Navy UDT - Navy SEAL Museum. Really wish we had the time to stop in and spend some time there, but knowing Gary and museums, and me with military subjects, it would have consumed most of the morning!
It was not much longer down the road and Bob had another puncture. We found a piece of glass in his front tire.
He borrowed a tube from Gary and we were back on the road. While waiting for him to repair his tire, we saw two Brightline trains go past our location. The Brightline is a high speed train serving five locations in Florida. I caught a still of the first one and a video of the second train.
We elected to divert from the ECG path for the next 19 miles or so to avoid riding down Route 1 and the heavy high speed traffic. It was a very pleasant ride along Indian River. it rained for several minutes, enough to cause us to ECG stop and cover our electronics. As quickly as it started, it stopped raining and the sun came back out with a vengeance.
We rerouted to a bike shop in Jensen Beach.. The customer service representative, when asked for the tube, said presto, is that the European style valve? It went downhill from there! The shop had one tube, presto valve in the most popular size possible for road bikes!

Too bad about all those flats but at least you managed to see an air show!
ReplyDeleteYou spent the time in ways you have liked. Those flats are tough and frustrating
